US bourses fell in anticipation of further Fed moves

Key US stock indices showed negative dynamics on Monday, closing in the negative. Investors remain cautious, expecting new signals from the Fed regarding its plans for the key rate, Investing.com writes.

All three indices ended yesterday's trading with a drop - the Dow Jones fell 0.25%, the S&P 500 - 0.12%, and the Nasdaq - 0.41%.

The main events expected this week are the speeches of Fed President Jerome Powell, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. As market participants believe, he will stick to the previously voiced position of the central bank - in particular, that stability of the key rate is necessary due to the duration of inflation. Various members of the Fed have been talking about this in the last few weeks, the portal notes.

At the same time, investors are interested in when the Fed will move to lower the rate this year, and they will be attentive to the corresponding hints. The latter continues to be at its highest level in the last 20 years.
