The World Bank and IMF are concerned about the economic situation in the world

This decade may be a lost decade for the global economy because of its slowdown, warned Indermit Gill, chief economist at the World Bank. The global community is losing the ability to cope with a growing list of modern problems, such as poverty, income inequality and climate change, which, in his opinion, is caused by a decline in global GDP growth. The World Bank predicts that by 2030 it will average 2.2% a year.

Last weekend, IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva raised the topic of slowing growth during her speech in Beijing. She said that even if it accelerates next year, its level will be below the average of 3.8%. Georgieva also drew attention to a number of threats, one of which is an increase in risks to financial stability, which has occurred against a background of accelerated interest rate hikes. The global economy, she said, is also threatened by the division of the global community into opposing economic blocs, which could lead to a reduction in the well-being and level of protection of citizens.
