The dollar will cease to be the world’s reserve currency in the coming years – expert

The dollar will lose its status as the world's reserve currency in the coming years - this is the forecast made by authoritative economist Nouriel Roubini in his article for the Financial Times. According to him, several factors contribute to this.

One of them is the growing tension between the United States and China, against the backdrop of which the global reserve currency will become bipolar. In addition, increasing rivalry between the West and other countries, including China, Russia and North Korea, would accelerate de-dollarization in the world. This view is shared by other experts.

Another factor is the fact that under the current financial system the market-forming countries have to pay for all the difficulties faced by the U.S. economy.

Roubini is one of the few who foresaw the deflation of the U.S. housing market bubble and the global financial crisis of 2008 that followed. He also correctly predicted elevated inflation coming as the economy recovered from the 2020 lockdowns due to the coronavirus pandemic.
